(More customer reviews)This mesmerizing product is so different than a wind chime. First off, it's not the least bit noisy, and it isn't offendsive to the neighbors. Also if you take your time to select the perfect place for it, it can be the greatest stress reducer ever. I can sit on my patio, read a book, take a break and end up watching it and feel so relaxed. Only drawback is that if left out in the elements it rusts and pits. If you don't mind that, GO FOR IT. It's well worth the money. Also it really looks very nice in your garden, or by itself.

(More customer reviews)Well, about two weeks ago Amazon ran the Green one on sale for $13; it's now back to being $22, which is a ripoff. I don't like it for these reasons:
1. It's cheap looking. It looks way better in the picture, which there was when I bought this item. (It's no surprise that there is no longer a picture posted by Amazon as of September 6.) When you see it in person, you know you wouldn't pay more than $5 for it, if that. Actually, I have found prettier things in the dollar stores. In its defense, the metal is fairly solid, although follow the instructions (on an inch and a half square piece of paper that you could easily overlook) and bend it carefully and as directed because you could break it.
2. Yes, it says it's green, but again, I relied on Amazon's picture, which shows some blue and yellow along with the green. Mine has absolutely no yellow and hardly any blue. It is very green, which means it doesn't look that great on a tree branch for a decoration, which is what I had in mind. The so-called psychedelic pattern is not attractive either because it's a trite looking print; it almost would have been better a solid green.
Please don't even consider giving this as a gift to any serious gardener; get them something else.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these spinners to suspend from a garden gazebo above a bird bath (on a wire about two feet long). It's very pretty out of the box and spins very well. Unfortunately, it's pretty flimsy and I needed some modification to make mine work.
First, it weighs almost nothing, so while it spins fine in a gentle breeze, any strong gusts or winds toss it around like a beach ball (which throws off its spinning). I solved this problem by drilling a hole in the base of the cage and affixing the heaviest cabinet knob I could find at the hardware store as a counterweight. Now it spins beautifully even when the wind is really blowing.
Second, my model has a glass teardrop in the center, which swings and spins freely from the cage. Due to the design of the blades of the cage, this tear drop can swing between two of the blades and then become wedged between them as the rotating blades "sweep" it up. It remains caught until you manually untangle it. On mine, this happened about every ten minutes. I solved this problem by using a small piece of copper wire to affix the "spring" the teardrop sits in to the bottom of the cage (conveniently using the same screw I used to affix the cabinet knob).
With those two problems fixed, it's now a very eye-catching decoration for my backyard and I'm happy with it. It just would have been nice not to have to reinforce it myself.
On an unrelated note, the directions recommend putting a coat of car wax on it once a year if you want to keep it shiny. I put on a couple of coats of clear enamel spray paint instead.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice design, but it is extremely flimsy. In fact, it is paper thin. I was expecting it to have a little more heft to it. Also, the pop rivets used to hold it together are overly large and detract from the appearance.
Because of the lighter material, the inner unit strikes the outer in higher wind and makes rather a unattractive sound. If the copper had been thicker, it may have helped this issue.
So, great design, but poor execution.

(More customer reviews)Arrived in perfect condition, ready to hang. After a few windy days I noticed that the inner spinner was getting stuck between the wings of the larger spinner. Once stuck, it never came unstuck unless I nudged it myself. We've had a windy spring and this became a real nuisance. Finally I tried pulling the top and bottom of the larger spinner to make it narrower and I think I overdid it because it hardly spun after that even in a brisk wind. Since then I have partly pushed it back and the inner spinner hasn't gotten stuck, but neither are spinning as well as they did originally. I really like the look of it and its well made, but satisfaction-wise I'm at best half way there. Now while I am writing this review, i notice on the review web page there is an image of the spinner and I must say that it definitely looks slimmer than the item I received, so perhaps I am/was on the right track giving it a stretch from top to bottom.
Next thing I tried was adjusting the size of the inner spinner by squeezing it top to bottom so it became slightly wider. That did the trick. Its been fine for a year and hasnt gotten stuck once.

(More customer reviews)This item does the trick if you're looking to motorize a wind spinner - like if you want to use it in the house or in an area that doesn't get much wind, like a patio. My one caution to anyone purchasing this item is that it's big! It's almost 8 inches long, and 2 inches in diameter - so putting a small spinner on it can look a little silly. The on/off switch isn't difficult to operate, but often out of reach because spinners hang high. The battery life varies depending on how big/heavy the spinner is that it's moving - so I recommend using rechargeables.
