Lysol by Conair SC11L Multipurpose Steam-Cleaning System Review

Lysol by Conair SC11L Multipurpose Steam-Cleaning System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently purchased this item latter part of Dec 2007. It's going back as soon as a return authorization is obtained. This unit is big and bulky and does NOT lend itself well to being a very useful "handheld", everyday tool, and I found it's accessories uncomfortable to use. Also, I felt it was slow getting "up to steam" and it felt "heavy" with a full load of water. Additionally, it seemed to not want to work properly when the unit wasn't particularily level. Steam cleaning, in principle, is a great idea, but it seems this product's adaptation and implementation of the principle is not good. Save your money or look elsewhere if you must have a handheld steam cleaning unit; this unit was too expensive and did not work well in this user's opinion.

Monster SC20 1200 Pressurized Steam Cleaning and Sanitizing System Review

Monster SC20 1200 Pressurized Steam Cleaning and Sanitizing System
Average Reviews:

Originally, I purchased the Monster 1200 via their website. After seeing the infomercial several times and the wonders it did on hardwood floors, I was hooked! When I purchased the steamer, I also received the bonus bottle of cleaning solution, a window/mirror squeegy and floor mopping attachment. WHAT A JOKE! (As a previous review stated) the bottle ran out within minutes. The squeegy leaves streaks. The floor attachment leaks steam - it burnt me twice. What's more, the steamer spews hot water before it actually emits steam! This products does not steam fabric wrinkles as advertised (not even sheer curtains)!
IT STEAMS...that's it. It does make cleaning gunk and hard-to-reach placed easier, but there are cheaper and SAFER products out there that do the same thing! BOTTOM LINE: Not worth the cost and does not meet my expectations. I gave it 3 stars because I did actually use it regularly...until it was dropped yesterday and stopped working.

McCulloch MC1226 Handheld Steam Cleaner Review

McCulloch MC1226 Handheld Steam Cleaner

I am generally pleased with this product. So far I can identify only one problem. The water reservoir is much too small. The steam just does'nt last long enough to be useful. The small amount of steam made available does not justify the cost. When I am able to do so,I will order a machine with a larger reservoir.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide my opinion.

Equipped with a powerful 900-watt heating system, this environmentally friendly handheld steam cleaner offers a chemical-free way to clean and sanitize throughout the house. It removes stubborn grease and grime, mildew, and much more using pure and natural, penetrating, pressurized steam--reaching areas that brushes can't access. Use the handheld steamer to clean everything from tile floors and countertops to carpeting and upholstery, even baked-on grills. It also works great for detailing engines, wheels, floor mats, and other vehicle components. Steam cleaning not only removes dirt and debris quickly and thoroughly, providing a clean, nontoxic environment for pets and kids, it also eliminates odors, kills and controls allergens, and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more floor polisher, glass sparkler, oven cleaner, mold buster, tile blaster, or protective rubber gloves needed. To use, simply fill the 6-ounce water reservoir with regular tap water, wait about three minutes for the water to heat up, then press the steam-on-demand button for up to eight minutes of continuous steam. Other highlights include a "ready" indicator light, an ergonomically designed handle for comfort, and a 12-1/2-foot power cord. A full assortment of useful accessories comes included: a steam jet nozzle, a large steam nozzle, a brass utility brush, a short nylon utility brush, a long nylon utility brush, a squeegee, a cloth cover, and a measuring cup. Lightweight and portable, the handheld steam cleaner measures 14-4/7 by 6 by 8-2/5 inches.

Bissell Steam Shot Hard-Surface Cleaner, 39N7A Review

Bissell Steam Shot Hard-Surface Cleaner, 39N7A
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had good luck with Bissell products, so, given conflicting reviews for other devices an insufficient reviews for the Steam Shot, I purchased one.
OK--it's true. Infomercials for such products are deceptive. Using chemical cleaners is a great deal faster and "easier" than this. Tortoise vs. the hare: This trudges very slowly compared to traditional cleaning. It requires patience.
My concerns with chemical cleaners include the residues left over that attract dirt and dust again, the unpleasantness of using and then worrying about chemicals, and, the concerns about using them near foodstuffs, utensils, prep and cooking surfaces, and, pots and pans.
The advantage of the Steam Shot (and, likely other similar "electric kettle" hand held colleague devices) is, that once a surface or item is clean, it really "is" clean. I don't have any fear or qualms even about using this on kitchen utensils, bread makers, microwaves, and, oven windows. It's also very good at cleaning kitchen cabinet fronts and vertical surfaces such as the outside of the dishwasher, trash compactor, and the fridge. One thing this is extraordinary at is getting at dirt between a metal (or porcelain) surface (say, a sink or stove) and counter tops (Formica, etc.). It's amazing at "rooting" out such dirt! This is also true of the "line" between back splashes and counter tops. I think that "touch-up" cleaning later on will be faster and easier....
Candle wax on the brick of the hearth? (Or a wall?--I'll need now to patch-paint!) The wax is tedious to remove in any case, yet, this is the best solution I've found--the unit definitely will melt wax so that it's easier to remove--absolutely!
As for waiting on the steam, I'm simply busy with scrubbing with a cloth or noting where to clean next--this is not a big problem for me; it seems that, as time goes on, heating up again is pretty fast. I've heard the item's boiling water while heating up. Although it's not always so hot, the steam can become really hot--I certainly believe it becomes hot enough to kill pathogens! It may certainly burn fingers, also, so precautions are smart. Despite what other reviewers think, my Steam Shot becomes very hot: It works! I'm not absolutely certain, but the "kettle" inside appears to be comprised of metal. The plastic of the unit and of the accessories appears to be high quality, also.
(When finished with the Steam Shot--allow it to cool sufficiently, then, slowly open the knob until it's removed (steam may slowly vent while opening). Then, before dumping the water, turn the unit slowly on its side over your sink and dump the water out--away from you--hopefully, the water won't "jet" out into your sink really quickly or explosively. (If so, this indicates that the water still is super-heated and dangerous (after all, it was both heated and pressurized): You don't want it ever to "jet" out at you or anyone else. Let the unit cool sufficiently longer next time!)
Conclusion:
This is nifty, and I enjoy cleaning with it. For heavy cleaning, this requires patience, but, I believe patience is rewarded and saves money! For certain unique household cleaning needs, this fits the bill really well! I haven't tried it, but, a dirty bar-b-q grate likely is too heavy a cleaning task for this. That always has been a pain....
