(More customer reviews)We bought this item for our steep driveway, so that we can cut down on heavy shoveling during large snowstorms. It is enough to melt the snow to allow one side of your car tires to roll over and gain enough traction to get up the hill. The heat is barely noticeable. If you place a ball of snow on it it will not melt instantly but rather over 10-20 minutes. We keep this outdoors all winter and it is very sturdy. It is also very heavy to pull out from storage. If you are a petite person you will need another person to help you carry this out to the walk. For this winter we used it in front of our house to clear a walkway from the street to the front door. Melts snow perfectly and even dries a rim of concrete all around it. No more slipping on ice or slushing through snow!

I purchased this for my Mother in Law whose townhouse has a steep wooden wheelchair ramp (carpeted) out front. My Father in Law built it and it needs to be rebuilt correctly or done away with totally. Anyway, last winter for the first time in 7 years that ramp was an icy slope, that my husband nor I could walk up. It was quite the sight. I sent her the ice carpet so I wouldn't have to worry about her walking down that ramp.

(More customer reviews)I bought two sets of these based on others' good reviews. When I got them, I wasn't sure how useful they would be for my application for older dogs going down a slope with pavers, across deck, etc. The material is similar to thin cut cocoa mat and they come rolled up, so they didn't lie flat at first, but once they get wet with rain/snow, they will lie perfectly flat and are great. Before these, my oldest dog had been having a terrible time with slipping on the ice and wet wood deck this winter and my younger dog also slipped and fell running across the deck; both are doing well on these. I would highly recommend them!
