7 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes Review

7 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have a German Wire Haired Setter named Maxwell Quincy (Max for short) who is allergic to fleas and flea control products. Max is 11 years old and has had to be medicated every summer for this problem. While doing research on flea control I read about nematodes and decided to give them a try. They have worked wonders for Max, this is the first summer he hasn't had a severe reaction to fleas!
After seeing how well they worked to control the fleas I bought some for the cabbage cut worms in our garden. I am pleased to say that in the 25 years we have had a garden this is the first year we haven't lost one head of cabbage yet.
Plus, if you are worried about this, we have checked a small specimen from each shipment with a microscope and found the nematodes to be alive and well upon receipt. Our grandchildren love watching them and get excited everytime we get a package.
Nematodes prey upon more than just fleas and cut worms so I suggest checking out the list of things they kill. If you have trouble with any of the pests on the list purchase some for yourself and I am sure you will be pleased with the results. Nematodes are microscopic wonders!

BENEFICIAL NEMATODES These microscopic insects will seek out and destroy over 230 kinds of soil dwelling and wood boring insects, including cutworms, armyworms, rootworms, weevils, grubs, fungus gnat larvae, and many more. They are completely safe for people, pets, and the environment, and are compatible with other beneficial insects. Beneficial nematodes are shipped live in the box and may be mixed directly into the soil and are applied with a sprayer.
USE: Beneficial Nematodes (BN) attack more than 230 kinds of soil dwelling and wood boring pests, such as flea larvae, white grubs, cutworms, corn root worms, strawberry weevils, gypsy moth larvae, cabbage root maggots, fungus gnat larvae, and many more. RELEASE: BN may be released by spraying with water, mixing with mulch and applying directly to the soil or potting mix, or injecting into burrows. They may be used any time of year, as long as the ground is not frozen. Do not release in direct sunlight, as this will kill them. See directions for details. COVERAGE: Will cover up to 200 square feet, but faster results are obtained with higher concentrations, covering only 200 square feet. GENERAL INFORMATION: Beneficial Nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) are microscopic in size and cannot be seen with the naked eye. But the 7 million active units in each pint container will hunt down, penetrate, and kill most soil dwelling pests. BN will attack over wintering adult insects, pupae, diapausing larvae, and grubs when they are in the soil, bark, or even ground litter. BN do not affect humans, animals, or plants. They are completely compatible with beneficial insects such as ladybugs, lacewings, and praying mantids and do not harm earthworms.

DeFlea Pet and Bedding Flea Spray for Dogs and Cats, 24-Ounce Review

DeFlea Pet and Bedding Flea Spray for Dogs and Cats, 24-Ounce
Average Reviews:

For those that negatively reviewed this product, that's sad. INSTANTLY I saw the fleas trying to get away and one by one, die within seconds! No, its intended use is not to last for a month like topical treatments (which don't work anyhow). This IS safe for pets!
Here's my advice.
1. Don't waste money experimenting.
2. Start with the house. You WILL have to use something to help the carpets/floors/furniture...THIS IS NOT THE PRODUCT FOR THAT! I suggest Fleabusters RX While it might be a little difficult to apply, its WORTH THE EFFORT!!! And the treatment is guaranteed for a year! You can find it on Amazon for $30. Until it arrives, just vacuum every day...its good exercise anyways.
Did you know that only 5% of the fleas in your home are on your pets? The other 95% are IN YOUR carpets and furniture and pet beds!
3. Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. EVERY DAY!!! THROW THE BAGS IN AN OUTSIDE TRASH CAN AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE! If you happen to have a bagless vacuum like myself, then clean it out after each use and if you're a freak like me wash it each time with soapy water.
4. Treat pets with this upon first treatment of the house with this stuff! I let this sit in their fur a day. My cat has white fur on her belly. When I sprayed this in that area, I saw all the bloody defication and fleas first hand. =/ Poor kitty. BUT THIS TREATMENT WILL KILL ALL OF THE FLEAS THAT ARE ON YOUR PET THE SECOND YOU SPRAY IT ON THEM.
5. The next day, bathe your pets with flea shampoo. I use the same brand as this spray! You can find that on here for $10. This isn't necessary unless you're a freak like me. You can just use soapy water if you want.
6. Repeat the spray/bath after every 2 weeks for about 4 months. I know it seems like a lot of work, but some of the eggs and stuff can take up to 4 months to hatch!
Then, if you walk a dog or let your pet outdoors, I would suggest dusting their butt with this before letting them in or getting those chewable pills that kill fleas when they bite your pet. Capatrol?? Its called something like that. Especially during flea season if you have one or after playing/encountering with flea infested pets.
I've found topicals and collars to be completely useless...
The only negative thing I can say about this product is that it kind of smells like pepper. Its a weird association to have!

Sentry Natural Defense Natural Household Spray, 12-Ounce Review

Sentry Natural Defense Natural Household Spray, 12-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this originally because I thought our cats had fleas and wanted to spray around their areas. It's turned out to be a great all around product. It doesn't smell chemical-y, aggravate my allergies, or give me a headache like some sprays do, and I feel comfortable spraying it in the kitchen or around the cats' feeding area, where we had an ant problem. You can really control the direction of the spray and get into nooks and crannies easily. I even chased a big fly around and sprayed it dead. Normally would never be able to kill something like that. It's also good if bugs in general give you the heebie jeebies and you want to be able to kill them from a few feet away. Especially great for apartment city dwellers who can't control the cleanliness of their neighbors...

Knockout ES Area Treatment 16 oz Review

Knockout ES Area Treatment 16 oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our apartment has thick wall to wall carpeting and it became infested with fleas last summer from our 2 cats... awful!! Fleas are the WORST! By that time the cats had both been given Frontline, which stops any new infestation, but the carpeting was thick and the fleas had colonized it. At first we wanted to go the all-natural route, trying sprinkling baking soda and salt into the carpeting, then a natural boric-acid based flea killer, combined with frequent vacuuming. None of these really did the trick-- after a few days, they were jumping on us and biting us again!! And, when fleas are bad, after a while, you don't CARE any more whether something is natural-- you'll do anything to get rid of the fleas, which seem to have the survival capabilities to outlast nuclear war. However, this stuff really works-- better than the flea bombs, actually, and less disruptive. Of course, we still put anything connected with food away before spraying this stuff on the carpeting, but after that, just had to go away for a couple of hours, then come back and open all the windows and let it ventilate with a box fan for another hour or so. And-- best thing-- the fleas were gone for GOOD!! (it does take about a week or so for the new flea "babies" that hatch to die off, so you may get a bite or two during that time. I would estimate they are about 85-90% gone after treatment, then gone altogether after 1-2 weeks. But they are definitely on their way out after treatment.) A good idea is to keep a spare can of this stuff in the closet for when summer and flea season come around next year.

Virbac Knockout E.S. Area Treatment with Pyriproxyfen insect growth regulator kills active flea infestations and prevents infestations from developing. Prevents reinfestation for seven months. Adult fleas may be seen in the treated areas when brought in on infested animals or when adults emerge from pupal cases, however a population will not develop in the treated area. Zodiac Carpet & Upholstery Aerosol Spray, 8 oz Review

Zodiac Carpet and Upholstery Aerosol Spray, 8 oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My (indoor) cat contracted fleas about a month ago and I used the Zodiac spray on the carpet, upholstery, curtains, and mattresses as I went about treating the apartment. I also used the Zodiac sponge bath (2 treatments/bottle, used both) and one course of the Frontline topical medicine. Today I was brushing my cat and found more fleas. My vet informed me that they have heard nothing but complaints from pet owners who've used the Zodiac products.
The label claims that: "One treatment gives continuous protection against pre-adult fleas for 7 months." I used the spray generously but here I am 1 month later right back where I started.
Just treating my 2-bedroom apartment for fleas is a costly and tedious task. If you're going to go through this, make sure you use the BEST products available. Talk to your vet and explore ALL your options. GOOD LUCK!

Diatomaceous Earth 3 pounds Review

Diatomaceous Earth 3 pounds
Average Reviews:

We live in a building in White Plains, NY that is affected by bedbugs. We've had several of these nasty parasites in our apartment over the past 9 months. 3 months ago my wife discovered this product, and purchased the 3 pound container that you see here. We started sprinkling it around our apartment: we did the perimeter baseboard, pulled up our area rugs and dusted the floorboards, and even put it between our box spring and mattress.
We've found bedbugs dried up around our apartment in the areas that we've treated, so it's successful as a treatment for bedbugs. The fact that it is pet-safe (you can feed it to your pets to de-worm them? crazy) gives us peace of mind about our cat stepping in it and washing her paws later.
If you put this down on your floors, be sure to have good ventilation. We didn't realize how long this powder would hang in the air when we first treated our bedroom: we did that at night, then had to quick get the Ionic Breeze into our room so we wouldn't sneeze all night.
Our exterminator didn't know about diatomaceous earth before he came to treat our apartment. I showed him this product and explained how it worked; he has now incorporated it into his arsenal of bedbug toxins.

D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from fossils of freshwater organisms and crushed to a fine powder. The powder particles resemble bits of broken glass when observed thru a microscope. Deadly to any insect or larvae, D.E. scratches the insect's waxy outer shell causing death by dehydration. D.E is completely harmless to all animals, fish, birds or in food. This makes D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) an excellent natural topical dusting powder for animals with fleas, ticks, lice and other external pests. D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) can also be used as a oral nutritional supplement in feed or fed straight during parasite season for animals with skin and coat needs associated with internal parasites.

The page fails to mention the fact that this Flea spray contains a pesticide in addition to the Growth Inhibitor. It's not safe for use if you have young animals or children running around. This should have been mentioned on the page, instead I had to wait til I received the product to find out. At a $10 nonrefundable shipping price and no reimbursement for costs to send it back, it costs more to try to return it than to just keep it.

Flea Killer Carpet Spray - 01651 16Oz Flea Killer Plus Review

Flea Killer Carpet Spray - 01651 16Oz Flea Killer Plus
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In thirty years we have gotten flea infestations twice. We have always had a couple of dogs and a couple of cats and they have always worn flea collars year round. But when you get infested, it's the pits. Our first time was 20 years ago, we used the foggers, and had to leave the house for hours while the foggers went off - and then clean every surface when we came back and we had to do it like twice in a couple of weeks! So when we got infested again this year, I was really upset... I remembered how hard it was to get rid of them, and how uncomfortable everyone was while doing it. I found this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray at Target and it worked really well. (I'm sorry but unless you are going to overnight your spray from Amazon, the sooner you get after the fleas the better you are.)
The smell isn't bad, and within an hour of spraying I went from 10 to 20 fleas on my legs while standing in the infested area of the basement (which is how we discovered we had them, the animals were pretty clean) to none. NONE. Now I don't think we're done yet, fleas are really tough, and it was big room (20' x 30') and I may have missed a few spots. I will probably spray again in a few weeks.
If you have a flea infestation, get this stuff. Worked for us great. Now to summarize from the reviews I saw around the web: Although a lot of reviews said it's OK to spray on dogs,... I wouldn't. Most everyone agrees the smell is bearable. I didn't see ANY reviews that said it didn't work. Yes it's a Chemical... some people objected to that. My day started in a panic because I found we had an infestation in the basement carpet. My day ended with relief that we seem to have knocked it back to near zero. And if it truly kills the eggs like Raid says, then I may have knocked it out entirely. I hate fleas... I now love this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray. It worked. Period.
