What more can I say? It's the right part for many of the Hoover SteamVacs and works fine. My order came with the cup/cap and tank handle as well--I think Hoover sometimes sells the cup/cap and handle separately.

I don't know how Hoover is getting away with this, but this thing called a "SteamVac" is no more a steam cleaner than my Dyson vacum cleaner. This is nothing more than an old fashioned carpet shampooer. I've returned it and put a call into Hoover about the deceptive advertising. I was told if I "thought" it had steam, I should have read the box to be sure! Why would you read the outside of the box to find out if something called a SteamVac has a heating element? Wouldn't that be like going to a car lot and checking under the hoods to see if the model you want comes with an engine? Besides that I didn't have a box to read...I ordered this thru Amazon and
it came in an unmarked brown box with no writing and no pics, so even that suggestion was a bit redundant. In checking out other Hoover models called SteamVac...I am 99.9% sure NONE of them steam. I was told by a Hoover rep that the name "SteamVac" is simply a trade name! In other words being called a steam vac does not mean a thing. Like I've said I can't imagine how Hoover is getting away with this kind of deception, but I know I will never, ever, under any circumstance trust the name Hoover again.

Hoover F8100900 Platinum Carpet Cleaner With High Intensity LED Spotlight Review

Hoover F8100900 Platinum Carpet Cleaner With High Intensity LED Spotlight

We just bought this machine and I can't say enough things about it. Our carpets are over 10 years old and it's made them look 100% better. Best of all it has a 6 year manufacturer's warranty so if there are any problems it can be taken to a nearby service center for repair. My husband has been using it the last two days and our carpets look great. I read many reviews and it seemed like the best one on the market. We buy a new machine about every 2 years as they break down frequently, but with a 6 year warranty you can't go wrong. I ordered the carpet cleaning solution through Amazon because it's cheaper than in the markets, free shipping and no tax. Great deal. Just be sure to clean the brushes and rinse everything throughly when you're done using it. We have 13 dogs and cats so having a good carpet cleaner is essential for us. We highly recommend that you read the operations manual prior to using the carpet cleaner in order to ensure all the settings are correct for proper operation. Buy it and you'll see the difference in how your carpets look and feel. The multiple brushes have fluffed and raised the carpet and it feels like new. One machine for 6 years will be a welcomed change!

Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Power Brush and Tools, FH50035 Review

Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Power Brush and Tools, FH50035
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had 2 Bissel carpet cleaners, and while they do an ok job of cleaning, I am very disappointed with the fact that the spray system on both of them died very early and I am forced to manually disperse the solution. I wanted to buy yet another carpet cleaner so that I wouldn't have to do this anymore and was determined not to get another Bissell because of this.
So with all the hype about "steam cleaning" from other products that you see on TV, I decided to go with the Hoover "SteamVac". Sadly, I did not purchase it on Amazon, because I could have returned it, but instead I got it with credit card points, and can therefore not return it.
For starters, there is NO STEAM whatsoever from this unit. As far as I can tell, it doesn't even have any kind of heating unit at all, relying instead upon the hot tap water that you supply. Now I don't know if Steam is the magical power that TV suggests, but if you're going to call your product the "SteamVac", it should use steam!!!
Next, this unit has some of the cheapest quality construction of any device I have ever seen that was worth more than 5 or 10 dollars. While I do prefer having two chambers, one for clean water and one for dirty water as opposed to Bissell's "bladder chamber" design, that's about the only positive feature this unit has. The "overflow protection" consists of a wide blue plastic cylinder that is supposed to "float" up and seal off the chamber whenever there is too much water in it. Unfortunately, it only takes a slight bump when the unit is empty to make it pop up due to the vacuum that it requires you to continuously shut the unit off, wait for the motor to stop, let it drop, then turn it back on. Now the handle release lock, instead of having some kind of smooth gear release mechanism like any other kind of vacuum or carpet cleaner, instead has this super cheap plastic simple "catch" that is mounted 6-7" off of the ground, that half the time when you release it causes the overflow cylinder to pop up, causing you to repeat the procedure.
The hose is very thin and narrow and doesn't sit very well on the machine, and you can't simply take it off and start using it, you have to remove a cover and manually plug it in to the dirty water basin, and you have to connect the solution line to the side of the unit via this dongle which just hangs there loose whenever it isn't being used. There is not a single piece of this unit which does not seem to be extremely cheap and likely to break.
After you get past the lack of quality and you start to use the machine, it is terrible. I will say this for it, the solution dispenser works very well, but after you've got it down on the carpet, even when the overflow protector isn't stopping your suction completely, it just doesn't seem to ever pick up the water all of the way. I spent ½ hour cleaning a 3x3' spot and left it to dry, and the next day it's still wet, and after several days the carpet is noticeably darker there. I tried it again and the same result. I tried it again and then vacuumed with my Bissell and then it was fine.
I think this may be the first scathing review I have ever left for any product, but this unit is absolutely terrible, I will never look to Hoover ever again, and I advise you not to either!

Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Power Brush, FH50030 Review

which machine does one purchase? light weight? heavy duty? added heaters? which brand is best? all valid ?'s- so i researched reviews on amazon before i purchased a carpet cleaner. i own a kirby vacuum system- i love it....but the machine is heavy, and the carpet cleaner a bit more involved in putting together than an upright machine. having already spent $$ on a kirby (a g4 i purchased 13 years ago) i did not want to spend a bunch of money on a carpet cleaner- i just wanted something to "pull out and lightly clean" carpets a few times a year.
this is the machine i decided on.
it seems to have worked well- it is easy to manuever, easy to assemble, easy to fill clean water tank, easy to empty the dirty water tank and replace the tanks again- easy to clean up!~ how great is that? having no other upright "steam" machine to compare it to, it seems to have cleaned adequately. i took my time and allowed the suction to pick up as much water as possible. it dried within 2 hours.
now, i must say, having used a kirby on this carpet, and not allowing shoes in the house, this 9 year old carpet had VERY LITTLE sand in the dirty water tank, and only gray water, compared to the walkway carpet that i also cleaned. the high traffic area had 8 times as much sand, and the water was much darker. so, the machine picks up alot. i am pleased with the overall performance of this machine. did not find any leaks- got it at a great price at [...] for 79$- very happy with this purchase.

I recently purchased the Max 77 to clean a bonus room that had been heavily soiled by kid and dog traffic. The unit performed much better than the unit I typically rent, a Rug Doctor. I am extremely impressed by how well the unit cleans. The unit is easy to clean and the dual dispenser, separate soap and water containers, is a real plus. The unit is a great deal easier to operate then the Rug Doctor and the wide stance saves time and effort. While I typically do not endorse products, this is an exception. The Hoover MaxExtract 77 saved me the expense of replacing my carpet, a feat that I thought would be impossible to accomplish.

Hoover MaxExtract All-Terrain Carpet Cleaner, F7452900 Review

Hoover MaxExtract All-Terrain Carpet Cleaner, F7452900
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have previously used the Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner to clean the inevitable stains associated with cats and potty training little boys from my Berber carpet. A friend has that cleaner, so I borrowed it on several occasions before finally deciding to get one of my own. Just before I was ready to buy, Good Housekeeping ran a review on the Hoover SteamVac so I looked it up on Amazon. I read the reviews and decided to take my chances with it.
I am amazed at the difference in the two machines. The Bissell used to shear off fibers from the carpet and leave a nasty trail of what looks like hairballs behind as I worked. The clean and dirty tanks are in the same unit which is clever, but almost impossible to clean.
The Hoover has two tanks - one for clean hot water with a compartment for the cleaning solution, and one for the dirty water. Both water tanks hold a gallon. I had no problems loading the clean tank or removing the dirty tank. No dripping of dirty water, no puddles on the rug or the kitchen floor when changing tanks.
Like I said before, I've cleaned my entire house several times with the Bissell machine, but I was amazed at the almost muddy water that came out of the carpet. It was as if I'd never cleaned the floors before. The dirty tank is easy to rinse out and reattach. The trick is to "recline" the machine so the clean tank is laying on the ground attached to the handle. Unsnap the clips and the dirty tank comes right off with no problem at all. Clean it out, snap the lid back on and clip it back into place and then you can stand the handle back up and deal with the clean tank.
The suction on this machine is amazing. It used to take hours and hours for the carpet to dry when I used the Bissell. I'd have to turn the fans on high and let them go overnight to have dry carpets in the morning. Two hours after cleaning the carpet (2 cleaning/rinse passes plus a rinsing only pass) and the floors were nearly dry.
I tested the Hoover on my kitchen tile. I hate ceramic tile. I will never have it in another house, but I'm stuck with it for now. I usually use the Vapor Clean II steam/pressure cleaner on the tile, but decided to give the Hoover a try since it came with the cleaning solution for the job. I wouldn't want to use it every time I clean the kitchen floor, but for a quick cleaning before company comes it'll do the trick. Again, I did not have any puddle problems. If you release the trigger just before you finish your pull stroke you won't have any puddling to speak of. The Hoover does a great job sucking up the water on the tile and even gets the water from the grout. It doesn't do a great job on grout because that's not what it's designed to do. I'll stick to my VaporClean and the special brush I have for that.
I'm also happy with the amount of cleaner used. The Bissell goes through cleaning solution at a much faster rate than the Hoover does. I like that, since leaving soap on the fibers is just going to make the floor get dirty faster.
The only things I'm not thrilled with:
The cleaning solution dispenser is integrated with the clean water tank. I wish it came with a spout or something attached so that pouring out leftover solution wasn't so messy. I know I could leave the solution in there between uses, but I have already had to pour out leftover carpet solution to switch to the hard surface cleaner - then I had to put the hard surface cleaner back in the bottle to switch back for more carpet work. Some sort of retractable spout or a reversable plug with a spout attached would be great.
The hose attachment is kind of flimsy. I've had the whole hose assembly fall off several times as I was changing tanks. It's not a huge deal, but it's annoying to the point that I'm considering taking that part off and storing it separately until I need to use the hand tools.
Buy this cleaner - you won't be disappointed!
UPDATE: January 2011
I still love this machine. I don't consider the drips that come from laying the handle down to be a problem. It's how the unit was designed. It's certainly not a return-worthy concern. I am capable of placing a towel on the floor to wipe up the drips from that, and it's never more than a few drips. And it's clean water, so who cares?
It still works great for me with no problems at all since I got it in 2007. I quit buying the detergent that goes with it and only use vinegar in the detergent tank now with no problems.
As far as the performance on carpet, it's still great. I shampooed the white carpet at my grandparents' house recently and they were mortified by how much black water came out of the machine. They've had their home professionally shampooed within the last year, too. Their carpet came clean and looked fantastic when I left.
I haven't used it on my carpet upstairs lately because I don't allow food up there, so there's not much need for more than regular vacuuming. I do use this machine more frequently on my kitchen tile than I thought I would, and I'm still happy with it. It gets the job done quickly, and the floor is dry when I'm done. It's loud, but not so loud that I don't want to use it.
Maybe they've changed things with the model since 2007, but my unit is still going strong. There may be better tools for the job out there, but until this one breaks I'm happy with what I've got. I'm not crazy, just satisfied. I'm not sure why that's so difficult to believe.
