(More customer reviews)The dog steps arrived very well packaged, nicely padded and wrapped. Just enough protection without overkill of the landfill. And cardboard, not styrofoam, so recyclable. The assembly was easy, and even sort of fun (I don't get out enough, I know). All materials needed were included: glue, and rubber floor guard bumpers. There could have been a bit more white glue included; we supplemented with some Elmer's. Once assembled, and letting it dry overnight, it was a very sturdy, and durable piece of furniture. And unlike all the plastic ones out there, NOT ugly. The carpet treads were pre-attached, and there was a small smudge (from the wood stain, I'm sure) on one of the treads. Not perfect, but I did not call the customer service for the company. The phone number for their customer service was prominently displayed, for "any contents that are missing or damaged". I felt I could have called and that the nice folks in Alabama would have sent me a new replacement piece, but the smudge was not that bad and I did not want to wait the extra days to finish the assembly. Besides, our dog does not wipe his paws anyway, so the smudge will be hidden pretty promptly by the animals tracks. The product is made in China; alas. But if you go to your local furniture store, you will be hard pressed to find much that is not Orient origin. All in all, I think this is a great product at a fair price, and I cannot understand the reviewer who said theirs "fell apart". I would blame their assembly job, NOT the product. Perhaps they have never used carpenter's wood glue before? This would be a good Cub Scout project for an 8 year old! Not difficult to assemble. And again, not an eyesore in the living room or bedroom!
