(More customer reviews)We have two kids under age 3 and a cat, so we have plenty of food, cat litter, and fur to pick up. This little vac is extremely quiet and lightweight, and picks up even cat litter and cooked rice! It does not clean the edges near the wall or corners well; that is its only drawback. I end up having to use a broom to sweep the edges and corners into the middle of the room. Most of our messes are in the main part of the floor, so it is not a huge deal to us. We have had it for two weeks and use it daily and are still on the initial battery charge. I also like the adjustable length of the handle since my husband and I are both tall.
So far, it has been a great purchase. It sure makes cleanup fast and easy.

iRobot 44001 Roomba Vacuum-Cleaning Robot Review

(More customer reviews)I just sent my roomba 440 off on its first assignment, clean my 750 sq ft apt! I am surprised at well this little robot is cleaning the floor, its no deep clean mind you but its picking up a ton of stuff! I have already emptied the bin twice. On the down side the roomba has gotten stuck about 6 times now, so i would recommend that you watch it carefully the first time you use it, plus it will let you know with a chime when its stuck and gives up on freeing itself. The run time is about 1 hr, which is enough time for this roomba to go over my entire apartment twice, at the moment its headed back into my bedroom for the 4th time. Just died! Ran from 8:10am to 9:21am. I can't wait to give it another charge and set it free before i head out for work in the morning, after i fix its little favorite places to get stuck.
Pros:
-Obviously cleans so you don't have to.
-Highly entertaining!
-Picks up lots of stuff from the carpet/tile/vinyl
-**Cleans under places i haven't seen since i moved in.
-Cheap at $200 considering what this thing actually does.
Cons
-Doesn't self dock for recharging like other robots.
-Doesn't perform well in high traffic areas.
-NiCd battery may provide the power this thing needs but come on! its 2010, this thing should have lithium batteries. NiCd wears out fast, its heavy, they are a battery that has a great memory(BAD thing!, remember to always store roomba with no charge and never half charge the battery).
All in all im happy with its performance, but you should never expect miracles.

I was so happy with the performance of my Roomba i cleaned it and took it back to target where i was given a full refund (love target!). I went to frys electronics to get the newer nicer model (Roomba 560, $350) and was ecstatic to find that they had it on sale for $269, that made my night. On sale through 7/15/10. I only upgraded because the battery lasts longer (4 rooms), it docks itself for recharging, and of course scheduling. I was filled with geek pride when i was at work today, looked at the clock and realized that at that exact moment there was a robot at my apartment vacuuming the floors for me, i expected to come home and it would be stuck somewhere but, well, not exactly... it had gone into the bathroom and accidentally closed the door on itself, on the upside the floors in my bathroom are spotless.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this vacuum when I got tired of lugging out the big vac to keep up with dog hair and kid crumbs. Sweeping just made things worse by making the dog hair fly around instead of helping.
So, solution...a lightweight cordless vac WITH a small duster for sofas. This vacuum has been perfect for our family. The battery lasts long enough (10-15 minutes) for me to relatively thoroughly clean the kitchen floor and then the other 3 rooms that are wood floors. The dog hair and crumbs are picked up between thorough floor cleanings which is exactly the thing I needed. The removeable "dustbuster" is perfect for crumbs and hair on furniture and in tighter corners. This vacuum is not meant to be the end all vacuum for your house. It is perfect for the 1-2 times a day you may want to keep doghair and crumbs in check. I leave this vacuum in the laundry room plugged is so it is always ready to go.
There is an unexpected added bonus...my boys LOVE to use it! It is the perfect weight and height (with the handle down) for kids! They get it out and put it away on their own. I rarely let them sweep with a broom because it just made more work for me, but now I have to keep them from fighting over it:)
So, if dog hair and dirt acculumate quickly in your house and you dread pulling out the big vac to keep up and sweeping frustrates you, this is the vacuum for you.

I have now owned the product for six months. I have nothing to change in my review. I am surprised that people are having so many problems with this product. My unit still works fine; the battery holds a charge; the pole has not broken; the handle has not broken. Maybe my unit is not typical. However, you do need to have realistic expectations for this product. The Swivel Sweeper is not a new revolutionary cleaning apparatus worthy of a patent (as the info commercial implies). It is just an electric sweeper for quick clean ups. If you want the thorough results that a vacuum provides--use a vacuum.
Original Review
I have owned my Swivel Sweeper for two weeks. If you are looking for something better than your dust pan, this is the product for you. If you are looking for something to replace your vacuum cleaner, you are going to be disappointed. The pros: light weight, high quality, cordless, rechargeable, easy to use, maneuverable. The cons: overpriced, can't ever replace a vacuum, time-consuming periodic cleaning. The product is just what I was looking for: a cordless, rechargeable, electric dust pan that I could keep in the kitchen next to the refrigerator and pull out twice a week and sweep the kitchen floor. I have a light colored tile floor and it shows every little particle of dirt. In addition, my cat spreads Friskies on the floor and the sweeper picks up those nicely. The Swivel Sweep is a fairly high quality product. All the parts look well designed, fairly durable (they are just plastic), and fit together well.
The Swivel Sweep is oversold on the info commercial (as to be expected). It will never take the place of a vacuum cleaner. It is not a vacuum cleaner. It creates no suction. It is simply a sweeper. I would summarize it as an electric dust pan. The product has four rotating brushes that sweep items into a small centralized dust pan with openings on all four sides. The Swivel Sweeper is much quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner; however, one would not use it in a room with a sleeping baby as advertised--it is not that quiet. It makes a tone with medium-high pitched whine. The picture on the box shows the product being used to sweep dirt from a carpet after a house plant has been toppled--forget it! That is not a good use of this product. Use a real vacuum cleaner for that job. This product is really only effective on hard surfaces. A dust pan is not what I would use on a carpet. Yes, you could pick up small items sitting on the surface of a carpet like paper clips, but realistically, to clean a carpet adequately, one should use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction and a powerful beater brush to separate the carpet strands. The Swivel Sweeper has neither of these. The Swivel Sweep is not comparable to a real vacuum cleaner. The Swivel Sweeper has problems picking up some very small items even on hard surfaces. Sometimes an item will shoot across the floor instead of going into the dust pan. I find myself going over the same area multiple times to pick up some items (but no big deal).
Because the product is fairly new, it is a bit overpriced. I think $29 would be more appropriate. I would expect to see it at Target in a year or two for $19.95. Emptying the dust pan is easy. Cleaning the sweeper is not. The Swivel Sweeper comes with a "cleaning tool" which is nothing more than a thread cutter/seam ripper (if you know what that is). Hair (human hair) gets wound around all four brushes and needs to be periodically cut and vacuumed out. The manual says "on occasion" this cleaning need to be done. The manual indicates the battery will last 45 minutes on one charge. That seems reasonable since I am still on the original charge and have used the sweeper about 10 times.
Overall, I am pleased with the product.

(More customer reviews)This idea, the cordless sweeper, has been a great invention for those of us with non-carpeted flooring that seems to show every spec of dirt or hair. While all models out there have the basic four sweeper brushes that do a good job of picking up dirt, a tray to empty, and a rechargeable battery, the overall disappointment with this is the Ni-Cad battery it uses. This translates to low usage time since it doesn't last more than a week of casual use on a full charge, a gradual loss of sweeping power (similar to a handheld vac when the battery is dying) so that the remaining power is too weak to be useful yet you risk "memory" damage if you recharge it. Consquently, when it is losing the battery power, you have to sit it in a corner to let it die out completely, then set it on the charger. My particularly battery was utterly useless after less than 6 months. I had regular usage of my hardwood floors and I cannot find a replacement battery, even on the manufacturers website. This would be a great product if not for the battery issue.

(More customer reviews)The Swivel Sweeper G2 works extremely well on hard floors. It's light weight and swivel to get around tight crevices. It also does a fairly decent cleaning job right up against the wall on hard floors and even carpets. Although for carpet cleaning in the central area of the room, you're better off using a conventional vacuum cleaner for that. The reason for this, that this sweeper is not a vacuum but a power brush system that would only get the surface dust off the carpet leaving the ground in dust.
We bought this sweeper to use on hard floors prior to washing them. For that function it does extremely well, keeping the mop relatively lint free. For use on carpeting, you have to be careful that you don't cause the sweeper to flip and spilling the contents back onto the carpet. Since this kind of sweeper with no suction doesn't clean ground in dirt well on carpeting, I would not recommend it for this purpose.
Previously, we bought the original Swivel Sweeper and now the Swivel Sweeper G2. When comparing the two, they both clean equally well. The Swivel Sweeper G2 is a little bit more convenient to use because of the refinement such as easier emptying as well as the articulating handle when you need to go underneath furniture.

(More customer reviews)However debris-free our kitchen floor may be in the morning, it is, by the end of the night, usually covered in a fine layer of crushed Cheerios. What's to be done? Picking up stuff with a broom and dustpan is laborious. Hauling out the regular vacuum cleaner is too much to ask. And much as I love the Swiffer--and I do love the Swiffer--its forte is dust clean-up, not picking up crumbs.
Enter the Eureka Boss Lite Upright Cordless, probably the best product I bought last year. It's light. It holds its charge long enough to do everything I've ever wanted to do with it. It slips on and off its recharging holder thing easily. And it does a good job, thank you very much--by which I mean that I have pretty much abandoned the aforementioned regular vacuum cleaner (in every room, not just the kitchen) because I just don't need it anymore. And of course the big advantage is that because of its great ease of use one can more easily and more often clean one's floor. On an average day I probably take this thing out two or three times.
Another reviewer mentioned the desirability of having a hose attachment for getting into corners. I would like this too, if (and only if) it could be added to the machine without making it (the machine) any more cumbersome or complicated. At any rate, a delightful vacuum cleaner that has made life easier around here. I highly recommend it.

(More customer reviews)It's easy to push, easy to empty, and cleans the bare floors well. On the carpet, which is pretty flat, I'm having an issue with the rubber pieces at the corners popping off. I'm not sure why. I bought it because it's the sweeper the custodians use at my school, and they're very happy with it. I like that it's a manual sweeper because I got tired of charging the cordless one I had, and I also got tired of replacing the expensive battery that refused to charge after a few years. Truthfully though, the cordless was more effective and practically pushed itself.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item knowing full well that I was taking a risk. What if it was NOT as grand as the infomercial made it out to be? Still, I'm somewhat limited physically (I'm an old bird, ok?) and I liked the idea of something lightweight to keep up with the little everyday messes at home. I share my home with two Chihuahuas and two cats. Enough said. Oh, and I live on a mountain...so "stuff" gets tracked in frequently.
This sweeper is phenomenal. I charged it up the day it arrived. After nearly two weeks of everyday use, and asking a LOT of it (cat litter, dog hair, lint, and some nails that got spilled long ago...) I find it is amazing for its size and weight. I have yet to re-charge the battery; it's still going strong. It goes everywhere, and sucks up everything effortlessly. I also love the little cleaning tool that came with it. I use it on my "regular" vacuum as well, to untangle the cat hair and such...why the big vac manufacturers haven't thought of this I don't know.
At any rate, this item is a winner. I have recommended it to everyone I know, particularly those who have pets. It's not perfect for heavy duty carpet cleaning, but on the other hand, I did use it to clean up my dogs' fleece bed after they crunched up a dry leaf all over it...guess what...it grumbled a bit, but it cleaned everything up. The easy empty feature is worth a lot to me too; and as I have arthritis, I appreciate not having to bend and crawl under furniture to sweep up.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this handy sweeper from Sears because I wanted something to pick up after the kids and our pets without having to lug the big vacuum out all the time just to clean up small messes. I was initially skeptical at first, but I knew I would be able to return it to Sears if I wasn't entirely satisfied. The setup and assembly was very quick. Just screw the wands together, attach it to the base, then charge it up. The first charge needs a full 16 hours to condition the batteries, thereafter the unit only needs 12 hours to recharge. I couldn't believe what this thing picked up. Everything from cat hair, litter, crumbs, and just about everything else that manages to find its way to the floor and carpet. Of course, sweepers aren't meant for big, hefty jobs, or for deep cleaning your carpets(this is a job for your vacuum), but they sure come in handy for in-between cleanups of small spills and messes. However, it's important to remember that sweepers are *NOT* vacuums. They have NO suction. They are designed to "sweep" the surface of your carpet and floors for quick, light pick-ups. That being said, I've been completely let down by Dustbusters and all those other "handvacs" that really didn't do anything but make a bunch of noise and lose their power after about 10 minutes of use. After using this, I figure I should only need to thoroughly vacuum once or twice a week now, instead of the usual everyday vacuuming that I used to do...
Bissell has designed a real winner here. I'm just curious to see how long the unit and the batteries will last. For some reason, they're still using old NiCad technology here, which is famous for developing the "memory effect" that renders them all but useless after about a year or so. The manual also says the batteries are NOT replaceable and must be disposed of when the unit has reached its useful life... The sweeper has a one(1)year warranty, so we'll see how that works out. For now, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase, and would recommend this to anyone who needs a sweeper or simply wants a quick fix for lugging the main vacuum out all the time. Excellent product!
