DustMite & Flea Control 8oz Review

DustMite and Flea Control 8oz
Average Reviews:

Powder that kills dust mites dead. It dissolves in water so you can put it in a spray bottle and spray it around the house on about any surface. Left no residue when I used it and there is no lingering odor that I can sense and my sniffer picks up on things other people do not detect.
Seems to have worked so far, but I'm uncertain as the little woman is fastidious about running the vacuum due to my allergy issues. We also use it on the laundry once in a while as well. I don't know if this is truly effective, I don't examine my sheets and carpets with a microscope, I just know that mites die when you expose them to this stuff (surfactants - it's smothers the poor little allergy monsters). I used to work in a pet shop with reptiles and we had to use something like this to kill mites off every so often when a mite infested batch of critters came in. This is "old school" stuff but it's not an insecticide that the mites get immune to. Kind of like using alcohol on bacteria, it will always work.

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed Review

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My main problem with the Rainbow is how it it sold. You have to let the salesperson into your home and they have that darn referral program. But with all that it can do, you really need a presentation. We bought our Rainbow on the spot and have never regretted that decision. We have 2 big, shedding dogs. I have bought the most privey Hoovers and Bissels but none would get rid of that dog smell or fur. The Rainbow purifies the air (also deodorises) as it vacuums. Powerful suction allows you to clean fans, blinds etc. effortlessly. We also have the carpet and floor cleaner. Although more cumbersome than an upright, it does a better job than others that I have tried - even the commercial Rug Doctors. This machine is not for people looking for ease of use. But if you want deep down cleaning, nothing else compares. Tip: when emptying out the canister, sift it so that only the dirty water goes into the toilet. Dump the rest of the clumped dirt and hair into a trash can. We bought our whole system for $1800 and it is still doing a wonderful job. You can also use the Rainbow to blow inflatable pools up and as a small wetvac.

If you've never used a Rainbow, you're in for a shock. With regular upright bag vacuums, dust particles escape through the pinpoint size holes in the bags. The water canister that sits under the Rainbow actually traps dirt, dust, etc. in the water as you vacuum. You actually see the water getting darker and darker. You can vacuum everyday with a regular bag vacuum cleaner and still not get your carpet as clean as you can with one pass of the Rainbow!

Fein DW1 Wet/Dry Clean-Up Kit Review

Fein DW1 Wet/Dry Clean-Up Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This kit includes a good variety of quality tools.
The parts go together easily with only slight pressure. They stay together when you want them to, but you can still take them apart. Thus far, I have not had them stick together so tightly that I have had to struggle to disassemble them. This was a common and recurring problem with my old VAC.
I especially like the floor brush. It has two rollers at the back of the unit that are larger enough that you can easily push it around in the typical shop floor dust and wood clips. It also has a built-in lever that permits you to lower bristle strips along the front and rear edges. The benefit is that for shop applications, you can leave the bristle strips retracted and the small wood chips won't have anything to cling to. You'll vacuum them right up. But for interior use or for fine particle dust, the bristles help attract and pick them up.
This package is a nice addition to your Fein VAC.

Bissell Cleanview Helix Plus Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 22C1 Review

Bissell Cleanview Helix Plus Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 22C1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATE: I've vacuumed my apartment every other day since my last review. I am happy to say it's running as good today as it has the day I got it. It still picks up an amazing amount of dirt, and I have not had to change the HEPA media filter yet (although I can already see discoloration-I will probably by a reusable this May).
I received my Bissell 22C1 from Amazon today so my review will be my immediate views and I plan to update this once again later on this winter. As a quick background our household had 2 adults and a medium haired cat living in an apartment with white, poor quality carpet. We both suffer from allergies.
Assembly & Parts:
When the package first arrives it requires minimum assembly. The filters are all in the correct places already, and the one tool you need is a screwdriver to screw the vacuums handle onto the body. It took more time opening the boxes than it took to put the vacuum together. The cord is long enough to vacuum my living room.
Test drive:
Since you have to screw the handle onto the body, the power switch is on the side of the vacuum, which seemed kind of weird to me.
I honestly cannot believe how much dirt it picked up from my carpet (both hair and dust). My carpet has always looked dirty, but after vacuuming it looks like the color lightened up by one shade. Of course it wont work miracles, but I am so much more satisfied with my carpet than I was before. Even when vacuuming the edges of the carpet (along the wall), the vacuum gets very close to the wall. It's not to the point where you wont need to use the crevice tool every once in a while, but at least you wont have to worry about it constantly.
Cleaning the dirt container is extremely easy! My old bagless vacuum made me take a tank out of the body, and lift the filter out of the tank before I was able to toss the dirt out. With this tool all you do is slide a knob from the left to right, then the tank is easy lifted away from the body and dumped out without having to touch anything gross inside.
In case you're wondering about how much parts will cost with the unit:
the part number for the 'Style 9 Drive Belt' (2 pack) is 32074
Standard headlight Bulb: 203-1297
Style 16 outer circular pre-motor filter: 69B1
Style 7/9/16 HEPA media filter: 32076
Style 7/9/16 Post motor filter: 3099
The manual gives directions on how to replace all bulbs and filters, as well as details on how to service it (yourself) and common vacuum issues like fixing a clog.
So far the vacuum's been great. I'm happy I purchased it and would recommend it. Great product for the price! And the manual is very helpful so hopefully in the future I wont have to bring it into the repair shop!

Equipped with a 12 amp motor, this bagless upright vacuum cleaner provides maximum suction power for thoroughly cleaning the home from top to bottom. The unit effectively removes dust, dirt, and dry spills from both carpets and bare-floor surfaces, while its opaque wire-reinforced stretch hose and onboard attachments make above-floor cleaning a snap. Use the TurboBrush for upholstery and stairs, the crevice tool to access narrow spaces, the 11-inch wand for extended reach, and the combination upholstery/dusting brush to clean tabletops, bookshelves, furniture, and more. Best of all, the unit's exclusive Helix dirt-separation system filters dirt and debris, protecting the motor and fan to ensure effective cleaning and long-lasting performance. The unit also offers a wide 15-inch cleaning path, five adjustable-height options, dual-edge cleaning, a "clean filter" indicator, and a HEPA media filter, which traps over 99.9 percent of dust mites, pollens, and ragweed for cleaner, more breathable indoor air. Other highlights include an easy-empty dirt container, a soft bumper to protect furniture and baseboards from marking, a wide-beam headlight, a carrying handle, a 27-foot power cord, and a quick-release cord wrap. The upright vacuum cleaner measures 12-1/2 by 15 by 44 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty.

iRobot 53501 Roomba 500 Series Vacuum Cleaning Robot with Self-Charging Home Base Review

iRobot 53501 Roomba 500 Series Vacuum Cleaning Robot with Self-Charging Home Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received my Roomba 535 and I couldn't be more pleased. My primary concern before purchasing was whether or not it would have sufficient suction and coverage to really clean my carpets; after running it several times, this is no longer a concern. It's a hungry little devil, and I'm floored by the amount of dust, hair, and debris that it captures. On the first 4 runs alone, I had to empty the bin 7 times. At this point, it's picking up less as the carpets have become drastically cleaner, and daily maintenance should keep it that way.
Aside from pickup power, it also does a great job of navigating my nontraditional layout, and intelligently avoids things like my knotted leather rug that can't be vacuumed. Daily cleaning is as simple as tapping the "Clean" button with my toe on my way out the door each morning, and I come home to beautifully cleaned carpet.
It does seem to have a bit of trouble getting back to its dock from time to time, but it's pretty fun to watch it try. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I find myself quietly cheering it on to success when it goes looking for the dock.
I would highly recommend this product; not only does it do a great job cleaning and providing full-floor coverage, but it's really fun to have around as well.

With its enhanced design, including improved navigation, coverage, pickup, and filtration, this vacuum-cleaning robot makes it easier then ever to clean floors throughout the house--hands free. Simply press the "clean" button and the unit will vacuum the whole floor on its own, adjusting automatically to any floor surface including wood, tile, linoleum, rugs, and carpet. The vacuum's dual, high-speed, counter-rotating brushes pick up everything from tracked-in dirt by the front door to food crumbs on the kitchen floor to pet hair throughout the house. It also provides anti-tangle technology with auto reverse, innovative spinning side brushes to ensure thorough cleaning in corners and along baseboards, and a gentle-touch bumper that senses obstacles so that it can slow down and carefully clean around them. The unit's dirt sensor will direct the cleaning time and focus where it's needed most, and its low-profile design means easy cleaning under beds, couches, and other hard-to-reach areas. Another thoughtful detail includes its ability to schedule preset cleaning times--great for coming home to a clean house after a long day at the office. Even more, the cleaner comes with built-in cliff sensors that prevent it from falling down stairs and a Virtual Wall system, which allows for setting up invisible barriers that confine the unit to a designated area. The vacuum's large dustbin empties easily, and its improved filtration system traps dust, pollen, and other allergens, helping to ensure only clean air gets released back into the room. For added convenience, the vacuuming robot automatically returns to its self-charging Home Base to dock and recharge between cleaning cycles or when the battery starts to run low. Accessories include a bumper extension, a brush cleaning tool, a power adapter, a rechargeable battery, one extra filter, one Virtual Wall Lighthouse, and four "C" batteries for the Virtual Walls.

iRobot Roomba Pet Series 562 Vacuum Cleaning Robot Review

iRobot Roomba Pet Series 562 Vacuum Cleaning Robot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We've had our Roomba since January 2010 and approx. 6 months later, I still love it and am really glad we made the purchase. It took a little convincing for me to get my husband to agree with the purchase, but now he calls it "his vacuum", and likes to show it off to our friends and family when they come over. For us, it really has reduced my weekly in-house workload. With two cats in the house, birds, bunny, and a dog, pet hair gets tracked throughout the house. With two young children, our kitchen (hardwood floors) gets nibblets of food all over the floor. Setting the vacuum up to focus on one room (by using the virtual walls) makes a big difference. Frequently ours is venturing throughout the entire house.
The only problem we occasionally have is when it gets stuck under our china cabinet, or stuck while trying to suck up a toy that was left behind, or shoelaces hanging off a shoe left out. All very minor issues. I will say, it's a bit odd, when in the middle of the night (like last night), I get woken up by it coming into our bedroom. My guess is it gets turned on by the cats while they're running around playing at night. I hope that's all it is. ;)
I will say that I do still run my other vacuum cleaner (an old Rainbow) about once a month. We have a particular rug in our living room that the pet hair gets ground in after a while and it's hard to get it up with the Roomba, but in general, the carpets look like we regularly vacuum, and you can see all it picks up when you clean it out. Note that you do have to clean it out regularly, and by that I mean, every time it's done with a cleaning. This might seem a pain to some, but it really only takes about 5 minutes to do it. It's worth it to me if it means I can program it to come on whenever I want and come home to cleaned carpets. On another positive note, it has made my kids and husband do a lot better with tidying up better.

iRobot 44001 Roomba Vacuum-Cleaning Robot Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just sent my roomba 440 off on its first assignment, clean my 750 sq ft apt! I am surprised at well this little robot is cleaning the floor, its no deep clean mind you but its picking up a ton of stuff! I have already emptied the bin twice. On the down side the roomba has gotten stuck about 6 times now, so i would recommend that you watch it carefully the first time you use it, plus it will let you know with a chime when its stuck and gives up on freeing itself. The run time is about 1 hr, which is enough time for this roomba to go over my entire apartment twice, at the moment its headed back into my bedroom for the 4th time. Just died! Ran from 8:10am to 9:21am. I can't wait to give it another charge and set it free before i head out for work in the morning, after i fix its little favorite places to get stuck.
Pros:
-Obviously cleans so you don't have to.
-Highly entertaining!
-Picks up lots of stuff from the carpet/tile/vinyl
-**Cleans under places i haven't seen since i moved in.
-Cheap at $200 considering what this thing actually does.
Cons
-Doesn't self dock for recharging like other robots.
-Doesn't perform well in high traffic areas.
-NiCd battery may provide the power this thing needs but come on! its 2010, this thing should have lithium batteries. NiCd wears out fast, its heavy, they are a battery that has a great memory(BAD thing!, remember to always store roomba with no charge and never half charge the battery).
All in all im happy with its performance, but you should never expect miracles.
*******EDIT*******
I was so happy with the performance of my Roomba i cleaned it and took it back to target where i was given a full refund (love target!). I went to frys electronics to get the newer nicer model (Roomba 560, $350) and was ecstatic to find that they had it on sale for $269, that made my night. On sale through 7/15/10. I only upgraded because the battery lasts longer (4 rooms), it docks itself for recharging, and of course scheduling. I was filled with geek pride when i was at work today, looked at the clock and realized that at that exact moment there was a robot at my apartment vacuuming the floors for me, i expected to come home and it would be stuck somewhere but, well, not exactly... it had gone into the bathroom and accidentally closed the door on itself, on the upside the floors in my bathroom are spotless.

With a simple touch of the "clean" button, this entry-level vacuuming robot picks up amazing amounts of dirt and debris, keeping the whole floor effortlessly clean. The powerful unit automatically adjusts to any floor surface including wood, tile, linoleum, and low- to medium-pile carpet, while its counter-rotating brushes reach deep into carpet fibers to lift dust, pet hair, cat litter, food crumbs, and more. After determining the room size, the vacuum's artificial intelligence adjusts the run time to ensure thorough cleaning of the entire floor surface. Because it cleans under furniture, along walls, and other hard-to-reach areas, it actually vacuums more of the floor than a standard upright can. A gentle-touch bumper system senses obstacles so the vacuum automatically slows its approach, gently touches the obstacle, then redirects to continue cleaning under or around the object. The vacuum also senses dirtier areas and spends more time cleaning them, plus it can be set to Spot mode for fast cleaning of messy spills. Even more, built-in infra-red cliff sensors make it possible for the cleaner to avoid stairs and other drop-offs, and invisible barriers can be set using the unit's virtual-wall system. To mark off-limit areas, simply place a virtual wall at a doorway or other opening and adjust the infrared beam setting to the distance of the opening. The unit automatically detects the beam and will not go past it. Two virtual walls, a power supply, a rechargeable battery, an extra filter, and a brush cleaning tool come included. The vacuuming robot measures approximately 13-1/5 by 13-1/5 by 3-1/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Eureka Purple Pet Expert Upright Review

I just received my eureka vacuum yesterday. I previously had a dirt devil, which worked alright but it was a cheap vacuum to begin with. I couldn't afford to spend the money on a dyson (I mean come on 400 for a vacuum cleaner!) I ordered the eureka b/c my dirt devil would fill up but i could still see all the pet hair on the floor. I have a rottweiler and my room mate has a calico; between the two my house is filled with pet hair in an hour. I used this vacuum once in my family room (the animals both sleep in that room) and when i emptied it the garbage looked like i had just shaved my dog with a buzzer.
The upholstery attachment worked wonders on my couch as well. Although the cord for the extension handle is a little different than what I'm used to I can't complain about it's performance. I enjoyed the pet hair want, but haven't had a chance to see if it works too well.
The only reason I didn't give the vacuum 5 stars is because since I just got it I can't tell how long it's going to last. For now I believe it is well worth the money.

Bissell Versus Bare-Floor Vacuum with Brushless V-Shape Technology, 76T8 Review

Bissell Versus Bare-Floor Vacuum with Brushless V-Shape Technology, 76T8
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay..let me start by saying that I have 2 (SHEDDING) dogs who have a doggie door to the backyard and are in and out all day long tracking dirt/leaves inside constantly. Let me also say that I have all hardwood floors throughout, and have been called OCD on the cleanliness of my home. Before purchasing the Bissell Versus, I owned 1 standard (HEAVY) upright vac (Dirt Devil), 2 cordless vacs (one being a Shark), and 2 handheld vacs.
Always on a mission to find the perfect vacuum cleaner, I got sucked (pun intended) right into the infomercial on the Bissell Versus. After reading online reviews (some great, some bad), I decided what the heck..I'll give it a shot. Here is what I found after using it last night for the first time:
1) Hard to find in-stores, but finally found at a local Target on sale for $59. (Yay!)
2) Easy to put together. REALLY easy.
3) Worried about the reviews saying it was hard to maneuver, I found it quite easy (I'm puny)! I didn't find it to be too "top-heavy" at all. WAY lighter than my normal upright vac, and the "V" head makes vacuuming around tables/chairs/furniture so much easier.
4) Vacuumed all of my dog-hair-tumbleweeds without any problem at all, regardless of how big they were, including some larger leaves that had fallen from my houseplants, and one (LARGE) dead bug that appeared sometime while I was out buying this vacuum. I was also very happy with how much dust it picked up! I personally didn't have a problem with the expelled air blowing around hair/debris..the vac sucked it right up before it got too far away.
5) The many reviews complaining about how short the cord is, had me worried I'd spend half my time unplugging/replugging. Although it IS shorter than my normal upright vac, it wasn't AT ALL as bad as some said.
6) Reviews also had me worried about it not getting hair against the floor's baseboard due to the "V" shape - but I didn't have any problems at all. I thought I'd need to use the Crevice Tool/Hose to get against the walls, but thankfully found I didn't even need it (well, just once to get behind the fridge).
7) I LOVE the fact that it is bagless..and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that it doesn't have a roller underneath to get hair/yarn/fuzz wrapped around! I hated trying to cut/unravel that nastiness from around my upright's roller. The Versus just has a big hole that everything gets sucked up! The most interaction I had with the underside, was to pull the fur off of the little "squeegee" thingy after I was done vacuuming my whole house..all of 2 seconds.
8) The only CON I could find, was that I tried to use it to vacuum the dog hair off of a couple floor mats, but it just wasn't doing the job. I'll still have to use my HEAVY one for that, or one of my handhelds.
So, needless to say..I highly recommend the Bissell Versus. :)

Equipped with a powerful 12 amp motor and a unique V-shaped base, this upright vacuum cleaner directs dry messes into the center suction path while picking up fine particles along the arms, making quick, easy work of keeping bare floors and low-pile carpeting clean throughout the house. The vacuum's innovative shape reaches into corners and tight spots, plus cleans right up to the edge and along baseboards. It can even handle larger-size debris thanks to its funneling effect. Use the cleaner to remove soccer-cleat dirt by the front door, spilled cereal crunching under foot in the kitchen, food crumbs around chair legs and under cabinets, and pet hair that collects just about everywhere. The vacuum cleaner also provides a swivel head, which pivots left and right to ensure smooth maneuverability, a durable wire-reinforced 6-5/9-foot stretch hose, and a crevice tool for cleaning upholstery or hard-to-reach places. Other thoughtful design details include a 13-inch cleaning path, a 19-2/3-foot power cord with a quick-release cord wrap, a pre-motor filter, and a dirt container, which means no expensive bags to buy. The bare-floor vacuum cleaner measures 13 by 13 by 45-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Procter & Gamble #30942 Swiffer Starter Kit Review

Procter and Gamble #30942 Swiffer Starter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
1) You can use the dry dust cloths -OR- the wet cleansing cloths with this broom / mop.
2) The mop head pivots 180 degrees, allowing you to get under objects like your couch, and also for easy storage
3) The dust cloths pick up EVERYTHING, including dust you couldn't even see.
4) The cloths are easy to attach and detach and stay firmly attached while in use.
5) Nice price for a nice product (that dusts AND mops your floor, I might add).
Cons:
1) Both the dry and wet cloths are only semi-effective on gritty or rough surfaces. Example: in the winter, my front hall gets messy with sand and grit from the front sidewalk - it needs to be swept before I mop, or the Swiffer ends up scraping all that junk across my tiles. Not really a con per se, as long as you're aware of it in advance.
Swiffer products have made a big difference in the amount of time it takes me to dust my house and the effectiveness of the job I do. Like the other reviewer, we have pets, and we need to dust and de-fur our home more often than other people do. Being able to do it quickly, effectively and easily is important. This product enables me to do just that.

The original Swiffer cloth with deep Lift and Lock Pockets, picks up more of the dust, dirt, hair, and common allergens than traditional methods. By simply attaching the dry, electrostatic cloths to the Swiffer sweeper, household soil is history, even in the hard-to-reach places. Swiffer cloths are also good for hand dusting. When you're done, just throw the cloths and all that dirt away.

iRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop Robot Review

iRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop Robot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Granted, I've had this thing for less than a week, but I can't quit raving about it.
I got the Dirt Dog for my enclosed patio, which is home to 12 messy caged parakeets and is also, of course, where my 4 cats like to hang out. I chose the Dirt Dog over the Roomba because I thought the sweeper would work better on the unfinished concrete than a vacuum unit, and it was cheaper. I liked the idea of the larger crud-holder than the vacuum, and I thought maybe it would be less tempramental, too.
The first time I turned it on, it wandered around exploring---I quickly learned that the fringed cotton rugs would have to go (no biggie, they just trap dirt anyway). I didn't move a lot of furniture---wanted to see how it would get along without much prep work on my part.
It quickly became my "Little Buddy" as it got stuck, or wrapped a string around its brushes and gently whimpered "Uh-Oh". I responded like the silly thing was one of my kids: "What's up, Little Buddy? Did you get caught on something?" Pathetic.
Anyway, he soon seemed to "learn" how to handle the edge of the platform my desk chair sits on and scoot under the shelves where the birds drop seeds & feathers. I learned to put barriers up so he couldn't get into trouble on the indoor-outdoor carpet that trends to unravel. We trained each other.
He's noisy...but I got used to it. The floor was looking better!
The cats seemed fascinated, but not afraid---they didn't freak out, just watched and stayed out of the way. At one point one of them actually sat on the floor and watched while he worked all around her.
By the time he finished, I was thrilled with my utterly brilliant purchase. I pulled out the hepa DustBuster http://www.amazon.com/review/R3DJL18LOJDRWI/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm and sucked up what little was missed or out of his range. Walking on the floor in my bare feet, I could feel how clean it really was---as clean as it gets when I spend half a day working on it with the big Shop Vac!
Next test: The bachelor son's house, equipped with three shedding dogs. Buddy whipped back and forth under two couches and a chair, scooping up fuzzballs like a champ. He cleaned the tile, the wood, and the (unfringed) area rug. He wanted to do the bedroom carpet, but I was afraid that might be just TOO much, even for him.
Buddy's next challenge was our garage---smooth concrete, but VERY UNclean. This is what he's built for, right? We set a timer and checked up on him about every 10 minutes to make sure he hadn't gotten stuck somewhere or pulled something into his brushes that made him stop. It took him a while, and I could tell by his yellow light that he was getting really tired, but he got it CLEAN. I emptied out his "dustpan" about 5 times. Yesterday I did some spray-painting in the garage, and the whole newly-clean floor was soon covered with overspray. So I put Buddy back to work. He swept up all the fine paint dust off the floor---no whining, no dust mask, no beer break. And now all that dust isn't getting tracked into the house. I can hardly wait to turn him loose the next time there are tiny metal shavings all over the floor from some drill-press project...
TBD is how well he'll last, but can you tell I'm pretty pleased with our newest family member?
Update June 23 2007:
It's now been six months, and we're on our second "Little Buddy". After a few weeks, Buddy I began just wandering around in a circle; it turned out he had an incurable wheel issue. It IS annoying that IRobot won't cover postage on a warranty return, but it was worth the hassle to get a new Little Buddy. The house just wasn't the same without him.....
Buddy II seems to be an even better and more energetic unit than his late, lamented sibling. He has earned the weekly task of sweeping our outdoor concrete courtyard. He gets a little rambunctious launching himself at some of the potted plants from time to time, but he does a wonderful job of cleaning up dirt, dust and leaves. It still amazes me how much stuff he picks up from what appears to be a pretty clean surface.
Buddy II has also been called into service for the above-mentioned drill press project. The scene begins as I step barefoot into the garage. I return hissing, swearing and bleeding on the floor. As I head for the tweezer drawer, I snarl to my husband, "Get Buddy! You've been drilling metal again and haven't cleaned up!" So Buddy has now succesfully taken on the role of marriage counselor.
He's also been on a couple of sleepovers at friends' houses, where he delighted his hostesses by cleaning their patios, decks and garages. One friend was so impressed she asked for her own Buddy as a birthday gift. He was apparently VERY well-behaved, even without parental supervision.
Buddy continues to work tirelessly, asking for nothing but a charged battery, a clean brush and an occasional (chaperoned) date with the air-compressor.

I bought this as a trial product, because the other stuff that I bought didn't work as what they advertise it. But this dusters picks up the dust instead of pushing to another place. This refills is quite cheap and it make my cleaning job much easier.

Dutch Rubber Broom (Large) w/ Telescoping Handle Review

Dutch Rubber Broom (Large) w/ Telescoping Handle

I normally avoid any infomercial-type products like the plague, but I decided to try this broom out after hearing it praised so highly in Ellen Sandbeck's book Organic Housekeeping: In Which the Non-Toxic Avenger Shows You How to Improve Your Health and That of Your Family, While You Save Time, Money, and, Perhaps, Your Sanity. Well, color me impressed!
The broom has quite a large head and a telescoping handle, which extends quite a ways at its full length and is very compact at its shortest length. In fact, one of my few complaints is that the head may be a tiny bit TOO large for my taste -- a slightly smaller model may work better in the kitchen, with this size suited a bit more to the basement or outdoor tasks. The telescoping handle is nice; you just twist to tighten or release it. I do find that if I'm not careful when I'm sweeping, I'll inadvertently grab the twisty part (that's the technical term for it!) and collapse the handle.
Sweeping with this broom is AWESOME! Well, as awesome as sweeping can be ... One problem I always had with a regular broom is that dog hair would go floating merrily across the floor, making it tough to get every last bit. But with the rubber broom, the hair tends to clump up in a neat little pile. The broom also works well on my rugs -- handy when I went to get the pet hair off them but don't feel like dragging out the vacuum.
I've also used the broom to mop, with great results. I had been using a Swiffer Wet Jet, with pretty good results, but the refills get pricey, and I felt bad about the amount of waste I was creating. Now I just use a couple rubber bands to attach an old, damp hand towel to the rubber broom. It works great, and the best part is that it's easy to take off the towel and put a fresh one on, so you're not just spreading dirt all over the floor. I also find that the rubber broom/towel combo seems to get the floor a bit cleaner than the smoother Swiffer pads -- very handy when you have a large dog and a toddler who loves to throw food. (Bonus -- I mop more frequently now, since I don't worry about "wasting" my Swiffer pads!)

As Seen On Tv 217412 One Sweep Broom Review

People who claim that the One Sweep Broom doesn't work, just didn't use it correctly. Taking short, firm sweeps on carpet, always pulling the broom toward you, it pulls out imbedded dust and hair that my vacuum left behind. Also, I must tell you that I used the One Sweep only days after having my carpet professionally cleaned, and it STILL pulled out hair from the fibers!
Make no mistake, it requires that you put physical effort into the process. However, the results are nothing short of miraculous. The debris does not easily float into your dustpan. Remember, you are ridding yourself of stuff that lingers due to tangling and static electricity. The secret is to work in small sections -- finish one area before moving on to the next.
The result is absolutely amazing and worth every bit of energy expended.
