(More customer reviews)I'm a long time Oreck XL user. I saw the deal for a refurb on passwird.com, so I grabbed one. I can't believe the volume of dirt this thing pulled out of my carpets after they had been cleaned with the Oreck. It is heavier than the Oreck, but the complaints that it's "too heavy" are exaggerated. I also have had no trouble using the attachments. The trick is to completely extend the flexible hose one time. This keeps it from wanting to drag the base unit after you. The overall industrial design is great although I find the placement of the power button a little quirky. Small price to pay. I'd buy it again.

Designed for all floor types, this Dyson upright vacuum cleaner features a motorized brushbar that can be turned on to remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, or turned off to protect rugs and delicate floors. Its advanced Root Cyclone technology ensures thorough, efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. Dyson proves no loss of suction using the IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard. The unit's pre-motor filter removes particles down to 0.1 micron and can be washed, while its post-motor electrostatic filter, which never needs replacing, traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor.
The vacuum cleaner also comes equipped with a quick-draw Telescope reach; the wand releases and expands 17-feet at the touch of a button for stairs and high-reach cleaning. In addition, special edge-cleaning whiskers, angled to reach down between the skirting board and the floor, flick the dust from the edge into the airflow. The intake nozzles of the on-board tools direct high-velocity airflow down into the carpet pile, which provides two main advantages. More gets picked up because the directional force of the air agitates and dislodges dust, and it keeps airflow continuous even when vacuuming curtains or upholstery, preventing them from becoming stuck to the cleaner.

Thoughtfully designed, the unit's hygienic 5/7-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--simply pull the trigger. The clear bin means no bags to buy, plus it allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it's full. Air expelled from the unit contains up to 150 times less mold and bacteria than common breathing air thanks to the vacuum's money-saving, lifetime HEPA filter. Furthermore, Dyson upright vacuums are the first and only vacuums certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation. Other highlights include a 14-foot quick-draw hose, a wide channel for picking up larger pieces, auto carpet-height adjustment, a 35-2/5-foot cord, and an ergonomic design with a low handle that feels lighter to carry. The durably built vacuum cleaner measures 13-3/8 by 14 by 44-6/7 inches.

(More customer reviews)For all of you reading this, understand as previously stated, this is a SWEEPER not a VACUUM!! Works extremely well for picking up things you would normally have to get a whiskbroom and dustpan for. It is QUIET, it is not for sweeping the whole carpet or hard surface floor, (although you could) It is for a quick pick up for dust bunnies, hair and spilled items such as cereal in those hard to reach areas. I would definitely recommend this to all!! Biggest thing is, you have to understand it is a sweeper, and a darn good one!! Also make sure that you charge it for 24 hours on your first charge. If you read the booklet that comes with it, you won't have any problems with it. I guess what I am trying to say is... you just need to be a little bit smarter than the sweeper!!

(More customer reviews)I've owned 3 sweeper vacs over the past 6 years. I do not expect them to work like a regular vacuum. I know that they are basically one step easier than using a broom and dust-pan when you have crumbs to clear up several times per day. We got this sweeper vac a year ago and it has not impressed me. The hinges on the arm were one of the things that attracted me to this product, but living in a house with small children I realized I never vacuum under something without looking first anyway, or I am liable to suck up a sock, a small child, or something else that could clog the vacuum. (This feature would be great for an elderly person or someone who has trouble bending down or carrying a large vacuum, though.)
Also, the hinges in the middle of the arm do not seem very sturdy. When pushing this broom on the carpet (with the arm straightened out in the locked position) the hinges seemed like they would give and break the handle in half sometimes, especially because this vacuum was harder to push on carpet than the other vacs were, and it always seemed like I was fighting it to roll. It is also awkward to clean out. You are supposed to be able to push a button on the handle to dump it but you still have to bend over, pick up the base and dump that too, because that gathers a lot of debris as well. There is also a weird little flap that needs to be tucked back into the base for it to snap back together correctly, so you have to bend over to put it back in anyway. (Not good for the person who has a hard time bending over!)
Another thing I should mention: The other two sweeper vacs I am comparing this to were hand-me-downs that were both at least a year old. The shark was the first one we bought new. I was excited to have a new one that would hopefully work even better and that I didn't have to dig someone else's hair out of, but it did not work any better out of the box than the used ones did! I wish I remembered the makes and models of the hand-me-downs, but unfortunately I don't. The handle just snapped off of ours (pretty easily, I might add) the other day and so I am here shopping for a new stick-vac or sweeper. I will not buy this product again and I will stay away from Shark altogether just to be safe.

My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.
I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.
I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!
Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

1) You can use the dry dust cloths -OR- the wet cleansing cloths with this broom / mop.
2) The mop head pivots 180 degrees, allowing you to get under objects like your couch, and also for easy storage
3) The dust cloths pick up EVERYTHING, including dust you couldn't even see.
4) The cloths are easy to attach and detach and stay firmly attached while in use.
5) Nice price for a nice product (that dusts AND mops your floor, I might add).
Cons:
1) Both the dry and wet cloths are only semi-effective on gritty or rough surfaces. Example: in the winter, my front hall gets messy with sand and grit from the front sidewalk - it needs to be swept before I mop, or the Swiffer ends up scraping all that junk across my tiles. Not really a con per se, as long as you're aware of it in advance.
Swiffer products have made a big difference in the amount of time it takes me to dust my house and the effectiveness of the job I do. Like the other reviewer, we have pets, and we need to dust and de-fur our home more often than other people do. Being able to do it quickly, effectively and easily is important. This product enables me to do just that.

(More customer reviews)I ordered my filters and they were shipped from Promax. After doing more research in my area I found the filters about half the price at my local Target store. I posted a review on Amazon stating that I was upset that I had paid more from Amazon/Promax and that even tho I would continue to buy from Amazon, I would not order from Promax again. I received my order and posted my review. I then received 3 phone calls and two e-mails from Promax wanting to know what they could do to resolve my opinion -- David actually told me they "lived and died" by their reviews and asked me to please take down my negative review and they would do whatever they could to make me happy. I was out of town, however, I took my review down on 4/24 and called the company back today, 4/27, to tell them I had taken the review down. Promax rep David, on speaker phone, ask me what price I had bought the same item from from Target, would he be able to go online and verify the price, that he would not refund my shipping, he actually said I knew how much I was paying for the item when I hit "send" on my order, and there was no way they would refund my shipping--I should know that I had to pay shipping when I buy something. Needless to say, I am now extremely unhappy with this whole Promax experience. When they wanted me to take down my review they were absolutely wonderful; after I took down my review I was the idiot. I told them not to worry about any type of refund, to expect my negative review back online.
I would hope anyone out there would run as fast as they could from this company. In this day and age customer service is a must for any business. This company is AWFUL. As I stated before -- I will continue to buy from Amazon, but if what I need is only available from Promax--I will do without.

Now we finally found the exact replacement the Eureka Heavy Duty Commercial Series . It has a 50 foot cord and that's the longest you will find.Instead of putting all extras and accessories into the vacuum it is just pure raw power .If you want a vacuum that lasts 25 years this is it.

(More customer reviews)i thought this was going to be the perfect solution for the daily dust that accumulates on my hardwood floors. initially, i was impressed. the swiffer seemed to pick up a lot of the dust. however, i was bothered by the plastic "vacuum" part, as it sometimes can scratch the floor if you're not careful. as another member wrote, it would have helpful if they would have put some rubber or something over the plastic vacuum part.
as the months passed, i found that the vacuum didn't seem to pick up as much as it used to. i do clean the filter regularly (which is a dusty mess each time you do it), so i don't know what's going on. frankly, the vacuum just isn't strong enough for what i need it to do anymore. i've reverted back to my regular "super-strength" vacuum to get the job done.
pros:
* lightweight
* easy to use
* works great for very light jobs
* small and easy to store
cons:
* vacuum not as strong as i'd like - more powerful motor would be great.
* plastic vacuum part in front can scratch floors if you're not careful
* cleaning the filter can be messy and can require you to swiffer the floor right after cleaning the filter!

(More customer reviews)This "Touchless" is even better than my first Swivel Sweeper. Being able to hold it over the trash and push the button to empty vs release a tray, pick it up, bang it on the side of the trash and find the holes to replace. It also has cleaning tools and a magnet that holds the "head" next to the pole for slimmer storage. I use it almost daily and charge it once a week. I have hardwood, tile and vinyl and also use it on area rugs so that I really don't need my vacuum. If I had carpeting it wouldn't suffice for more than quickie pick ups. There are 2 caveats 1) don't overcharge the battery. With my first I just left it in the charger for sometimes days between uses and I think I drained it so that it wouldn't hold a charge. Now I make sure I don't charge it for over 24 hours like the directions indicate. 2) it is a moderate pain to clean the hair out of the brushes. I also have a Roomba so I am used to cleaning the unit regularly. That said, I love it that it is so easy and quick; it goes under beds and sofas and areas that don't require you to move furniture. You just can't beat how easy it allows you to quickly clean your major areas daily in minutes. It doesn't scratch my wood floors,which was a concern. I don't know about you but I frequently "miss the counter" in the kitchen on a daily basis and don't like "feeling" stuff on my bare feet. Daily swiveling takes care of that in an instant.

(More customer reviews)This idea, the cordless sweeper, has been a great invention for those of us with non-carpeted flooring that seems to show every spec of dirt or hair. While all models out there have the basic four sweeper brushes that do a good job of picking up dirt, a tray to empty, and a rechargeable battery, the overall disappointment with this is the Ni-Cad battery it uses. This translates to low usage time since it doesn't last more than a week of casual use on a full charge, a gradual loss of sweeping power (similar to a handheld vac when the battery is dying) so that the remaining power is too weak to be useful yet you risk "memory" damage if you recharge it. Consquently, when it is losing the battery power, you have to sit it in a corner to let it die out completely, then set it on the charger. My particularly battery was utterly useless after less than 6 months. I had regular usage of my hardwood floors and I cannot find a replacement battery, even on the manufacturers website. This would be a great product if not for the battery issue.

(More customer reviews)We were not at all happy with this item. It did not do what it said it would. I wanted something to pick up pet hair. Hoky suggested a different model which we also tried. Not so good either. We ended up with a Bissell at half the price and it does a great job. If you buy one be sure you understand two things. Check to see if the site will return your money if you are not happy with the product. The place we got if from wouldn't. Amazon took care of the problem. Second, the handle is really hard to take appart if you want to send it back.
