I couldn't afford the Dyson brand, and after perusing the reviews of comparable vacuums, I decided to take a leap, and buy it. I am pleasantly amazed of the pickup! I had tremendous amounts of dirt the first time I vacuumed. It seemed like I'd never swept my floor since I've moved in my house! I particularly liked the one touch lever to release the dirt directly into the trash. The cyclonic action advertised is tremendously powerful. If you don't want to plunk down major money on a Dyson, this is definitely the vacuum to buy.

Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac Review

Vacuumed my carpet which had already been vacuumed earlier today by my other vacuum and was surprised at how much more this vacuum picked up. But when the vacuum roller hits the rug, it makes a laboring sound. When it is not making contact with the rug, it sounds normal. Loud but normal. I'm not sure if this is the way it should sound because that means labor on the motor and the belts. I'll have to call them as ask about that. Also, the manual tells you to replace the filter yearly (yea right!). But, for the heck of it, I ran a search to find out how much they cost and no one sells the F43. NOT EVEN DIRT DEVIL. They have something called f43 filter assembly under the product parts at the Dirt Devil site but no picture so I don't now if it includes the filter or just the housing. So I ran a search at Dirt Devil under hepa filters for that filter number (F43) but nothing comes up. In the list of Hepa filters, it jumps from F39 to F45 . I'm gonna call customer care Monday morning and see what's up with that too. Otherwise, it's back to Target for a refund.

(More customer reviews)A rent a room in a house, so I bought this rechargeable vacuum at walmart for about $35. Pros: price, maintenance, power, storage (the handle folds all the way down), relatively quiet, and cordless.
Cons: Battery dies fairly quickly, brush gets stuck if you try to vacuum long hair, takes 12 plus hours to recharge.
This is good for small areas only (one room in a house, an rv, area rugs). It should not be expected to take the place of a full-sized upright. I have to keep it on bare floor when I clean my carpet, due to my long hair getting stuck around the roller bar. It still does great on this setting, picking up things I can't even see. If you want to do a really great job, however, you may have to charge it again and finish later. I highly recommend it for those on a budget, who just need something to keep a small space clean.

(More customer reviews)Having just put tile throughout the house, and living with 3 dogs and 2 cats, I hated hauling out the heavy vacuum and plugging it in. And then unplugging and plugging again and again all the while dragging it around the house.. This little wonder does the whole house, is light and does the job. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the dirt cup is quite small and has to be emptied frequently. This, of course, would vary depending on how much animal hair accumulates on ones floor.

I would heartily reccommend this device because of it's ease of use, lack of weight and powerful suction.
I love it and could sell them door to door they are so great.

Incredibly, the Dirt Devil designers placed their's right up front just below the headlight, so air blows hard on the floor directly in front of the vacuuum. Anything loose (e.g., dog hair, dust, paper, grass, etc.) is blown away BEFORE you can reach it with the vacuum. Vacuuming with the Dirt Devil becomes a game of chase. Good luck as you try to sneak up on the dirt before its blown away from the vacuum. (Don't even TRY to use this lemon on a tile floor!) No wonder I got this on sale for 60 bucks. Looks like it's time for the Dirt Devil company to go in the dustbin.

It is pulling the brush onto the plastic fixtures of the vacuum to the point that when I ran the vacuum for 90 seconds, part of the brush was melted away from rubbing against the guides. Hard to explain, but I know I'm never buying another belt unless it's made by the vacuum manufacturer--certainly never this kind.

(More customer reviews)Despite the fact that the Dysons have never been a top pick on Consumer Reports (even though they consistently rate high for brand reliability), I went ahead and purchased the DC23 Turbinehead from Target for $399.
As people often find when purchasing a new vacuum, they pick up a lot of dust and dirt in the carpet that their old vacuum left behind. Mainly because most older vacuums just lose suction even if you replace the filters and maintain all the parts. I find that to be frustrating and disappointing, and that's mainly one of the reasons that I went with the Dyson -- I'm hoping it lives up to their tagline (Never Loses Suction).
The suction on the DC23 is good. The turbine head attachment spins quickly and pulls in cat litter and other little particles in the carpet. I was revolted by the giant thick dust ball I picked up in just one bedroom with the first use. The DC23 does it's job well. So here's the run down of what I like and don't like about this model:
Likes
-Excellent suction, vacuums well. Easily picks up all the cat hair and cat litter I throw at it.
-Small, light weight and portable
-Beautifully designed -- it's shocking to look at this model next to all the Hoovers, Dirt Devils, and Bissells of the world that look like something straight out of the 80's. Also glad they are moving away from the yellow plastic!
-Easy to empty dust bin, no bags
-Because of the small head, this vacuum can go where most uprights cannot -- under beds and tables.
Dislikes
-It's a little expensive, however, will be well worth it if it actually lasts a long time without losing suction
-Storage is a little flimsy -- the hose just sort of hangs out off of the vacuum and the head attachment very loosely attaches to the canister base.

(More customer reviews)Is it too much to ask for a vacuum to pick up stray pieces of paper, not to spit dirt out the back, and be light? This one fits the bill. I owned a dirt devil featherlite 9 years ago but after my husband touched it after 8 years, it didn't suck much anymore. Up till then it worked great. So I bought a vacuum that cost triple this vacuum thinking more expensive so it should be a wonderful vacuum. NOT! It didn't work well at all. Wouldn't pick up papers and kept shredding paper over the carpet, wouldn't suck it up. It also kept spitting dirt out the back on hard floors, or at least every direction except up the canister. I had a herniated disc for 10 months, every time I used the expensive vacuum, it was so heavy and bulky it kept throwing my back out more and kept me down for a week in pain. I was so happy to see kohl's had the new improved version of my old featherlite. It works as good if not better than the last one I had. It sucks really well. I have fun watching the dirt starting to move toward the vacuum before I even get to it. No spitting out the back at all! It is really lightweight but not as wide as other vacuums. The air coming out blows up so items on the refrigerator get blown off sometimes. I don't mind. This is perfect for my 1400 sq foot house and my back is thanking me. Even if I had a larger house, I wouldn't hesitate to use this one. It may take me a few minutes longer but is so worth it. This one even fits nicely in my small coat closet, unlike the more expensive vacuum. I had to force, pull and tug it in. Needless to say the bulky expensive vacuum is gone for good! Just because a vacuum costs more, doesn't mean it's better! I highly recommend this product!

I was skeptical when I saw the other reviewer's note that they didn't and were too small but it's a simple matter of stretching the belt which isn't difficult. It needs to be quite taught so that it won't slip while in use. The packaging is indeed marked for the Fantom as shown in the picture. No issuess and vacuum runs great!

Dirt Devil M0105 Purpose For Pets Hand Vac Review

Two weeks ago I ordered a Dyson "Animal" handheld from Amazon after agonizing about which handheld to buy. I need something for my carpeted steps. My little Kone handheld wasn't doing the job, and my big Dyson is too bulky to maneuver up and down the steps. The Dyson handheld pulled up that cat hair like whoa.
But the Dyson has this stupid, stupid design feature, which is that there's no on/off switch. Instead it has a trigger-like thing, which you have to keep held down in order to keep the vacuum powered on. If you let go then it shuts off. Trying to maneuver that heavy handheld around the steps without letting go of the trigger was near impossible. I emailed Dyson about it (surely there must have been a trigger lock somewhere?) but when they failed to answer I sent it back to Amazon and ordered this Dirt Devil.
The Dirt Devil does just as good a job as the Dyson, AND it has a proper on/off switch. The cord is long enough that I can reach from the base of the stairs to the landing, and then I take it out, plug it in at the top of the steps, and do the part from the landing to the upstairs hallway. The Dirt Devil is really loud, but I do it when no one else is home so that hardly matters. The only place where the Dyson was better is that its nozzle was narrower. I can't turn the Dirt Devil sideways to do the stair risers, because the brush is wide and the stair above overhangs the riser part. But I can do short strokes up and down the riser instead of going across. This is a fine machine and I'm very, very happy with it.
Just for the record: Dyson finally responded to my email with a "Thanks for the suggestion of a trigger lock"! They said they have over 300 engineers and scientists evaluating customer suggestions like mine and will look into it. I can't believe that with a team of over 300 engineers and scientists nobody tested that thing to see how ridiculous it is to hold a trigger down while you vacuum.

(More customer reviews)I bought a Dirt Devil hand vac in the early 1980's because the carpet salesman where I bought my new carpet told me it would be far superior for use on stairs than the attachment that came with my upright (Rainbow) vacuum cleaner. He was right and I also loved that hand vac for cleaning my upholstered furniture. I bought a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner last year and I wish I could say that the upholstery attachment sucks, but it doesn't, and it is hard to put on and take off of the hose. I like the Dyson for my carpets but am not at all impressed with their attachments. So, today I bought this Dirt Devil Classic and it is great! I read the reviews here and others were complaining about some of the other models. This hand vac has a belt and the belt can be replaced. The owner of the vac shop told me the difference between the models that are receiving the complaints here and the Classic 0100 that I bought today is that the others are air driven and mine is belt driven and that's why the other models' brushes stop moving when you touch the vac to either your upholstered furniture or your carpet. I paid $49.95 for mine, $10 more than listed on Amazon but I got it today instead of next week. I can't say enough good things about Amazon and their quick service, though, and I do buy a lot from Amazon. So, if anyone else, like me, is reading these reviews prior to purchasing a new Dirt Devil hand vac, please buy a belt driven model and not an air driven one. You won't be sorry. You may pay more but it will be worth it. I gave only 4 stars instead of 5 because it is really noisy!

(More customer reviews)I got this vac for cleaning up a small space, just a room, and did not need a whole upright thing.
I can say that this unit must have a very powerful motor- when you turn it on, it sounds like a Corvette at 6000 rpm and there does not seem to be anything built into the product to lessen this clamor.
The unfortunate thing is that all this power as you would think from the sound(s) that it makes does not seem to translate into a lot of suction power. But the brush is very powerful and distinguishis this product from other "Dustbuster" type hand vacs.
As a handheld vaccum, I do find its brush powerful to get things like cookie crumbs and whatnot out of a cheap synthetic carpet but beware, it is really loud. Well, one other good thing is that the bags are easily available.
Probably you can find another handheld vac that is quieter but beware that some "Dustbuster" - style vacs do not have a sweeping powerful brush, they just inhale loose debris. So consider it carefully.
It is an okay product and people ask to borrow it, but it does have its drawbacks in the noise and that the suction is not as powerful as it should be.
I think perhpas a lot of people here are comparing this Dirt Devil negatively with respect to hand vacuums that do not have powered brushes so it is not really a fair comparison.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this 12 amp Dirt Devil after my 6 amp Eureka broke from 3 years of weekly use. I was very happy with my original 6 amps of power. However, I decided it was time to double up since I live with two cats that constantly shed. The DD does a great job at picking up furballs, sand, dirt, crumbs, small pebbles and many more from my hardwood and tile floors. Besides a great suction power, the DD is also light weight and stands up on its own. However, there are many drawbacks:
1) Too LOUD!! I wear ear plugs every time I use this machine (seriously!!). We already know it has 12 amps of power... we don't need to hear it!
2) The handle is too short. I am 5 feet 6 inches and I honestly feel that the handle is about 2-3 inches too short. I constantly find myself bending my back while using this machine.
3) The vaccum head does not swivel. I loved the fact that my old Eureka had the ability to swivel. It definitely made vaccuming easier.
4) Air shoots out of the side vents, which blows away what I need to suck up from the floor. This is really annoying since I have to "chase" what I want to vaccum.
5) Too big to go under my sofa. I can only get the vaccum head underneath. The entire body will not fit because is too big. I have to clean the remaining 2-3 feet of space with a swifter.
Although the DD does have excellent suction power, I prefer my old 6 amp Eureka, which cleaned just as well, without the loud engine! If you don't want to run around chasing your dirt while wearing ear plugs, then pass up this DD and buy another vaccum.
